It is after all, not really a very art or music type of thing, more of a personal enrichment event.

Today I was dragged to Downtown East by Ashley to attend a short crash course on perspective drawing. The crash course was in fact subordinate to a large Manga Festival taking place in the resort!

I got a shock when I saw the type of eye candy in the event. I cannot count the number of people in Number One Cosplay Dress Code with the theme of Manga and Anime. Everyone simply paraded around the resort as though they are walking along the streets. It is hard to meet, for that matter, glimpse one cosplayer. There are more than a hundred, I believe.

Had I known earlier, I will have brought my SLR and six rolls of colour film. Without, a 5.1 auto Cybershot will have to do.

After the course, I naturally took many shots around the place. The awkward lighting of the tent and the shadows of the people make me appreciate having learnt the workings of a camera, that using flash light will shorten the shutter time and make it much easier to get a clear steady shot. Enough for all the technical things though. The photos. Be prepared to get zapped by the current.

This pretty cosplayer chose a convenient background next to the dark blue curtains and posed there patiently for many a photographer to take her photo. Although I do not know the manga character she is cosplaying, she is herself definitely pretty as a fairy maiden and has a characteristic manga look on her, which means that she has done very well.

While this model with the whip, and her partner, look perfect a team of agents. This is actually part of a larger gathering.

I find the first cosplayer more pretty, but this one has a very act cute look on her face, reminiscent of many characters I have seen in animations while I was younger, at the same time having a Singaporean accent in her act cute nature. She really knows how to pose, I wish I can do it too.

That is all so far. I really wish to thank these cosplayers for letting me take these photos but unfortunately I really do not know who they are. Should this be you or should you know any of them, please let me know immediately! I will like to thank them in person.

Birthday Thoughts

It is very strange that I seem always to have plenty of thought, but when it comes to really writing them down, I find that I cannot seem to.

Today is my 21st birthday. As Xiaolongnu herself will have done, I normally face special events with a classical, soothing calm, and this is no exception. While other classmates and friends of mine have elaborate parties, I contented with a simple, meaningful gathering with a few friends.

Not one to be in favour of extravagant parties, I decided on a simple ceremony at Hans today afternoon. My list is a short one, including 5786, 2376, 0029, 5803, 8619, 1814, 6686, 6013, 3851, 4062, 7842 and 4993. The last three unfortunately did not turn up (with RSVP), making an overall total of 10, a respectable and unexpected number.

The ceremony was short and simple. Gather for lunch, talk about just about everything. As 5786, 1814 and 5803 were late (with RSVP), we dragged it further.

The presents were simple, but highly meaningful. The pillow is excellent, but sadly will be a laugh to bring to Hall, so I have to do away with that plan. The bag turned out to be rugged, the way I need my bag to be. The pair of pants in there also just satisfied my needs, completing the necessary for university.

I liked the presents, and the pains that my friends took to get them, and perhaps even more the fact that they had taken the trouble to understand me and my needs to get them. The best way to show your concern is to understand, and spend time. That is more valuable than any present that physically exists.

My birthday wish, made last night with my family at a family friend's house, was also easy and crystal clear, and standard. To wish to get the things I wish for and the hopes that I hope for.

The evening was spent with my family, and with dinner at my uncle's coffeeshop. Not much to boast about, but it is not often that a 21 year old gets such treatment. It is indeed an unusual way to celebrate a birthday. Others will have spent a large amount at some posh restaurant, but I much prefer a cosy place in the humble neighbourhood, where the traditional and ebbing Kampong spirit of Eunos is in the air.

Princess Fann has always inspired me in song, and there is a strong correlation that her songs often contain ideas or imply ideas that happiness can be very simple. I like her songs for this reason, and am pleased to find that my 21st birthday has been with such simple elegant ease. Princess Peifen on the other hand, also has mentioned many times on air that simple is beautiful, and I am also glad to put her words into practice.

It is 11, and I have finished writing and editing, and have to have it up before 2359. On the whole, simple, elegant and eventful birthday, definitely the best I have ever had so far. Excellent day, and hope tomorrow will be better.

PR001 Group vs Individual reactions

I hesitated for a long time over the title of this module. Should I call it Group vs Individual Reactions, or should I name it Differences Between Ladies and Gentlemen? I finally decided on the former as I found it to be more suitable for my presentation.

Undeniably, people sometimes behave differently in different contexts. However, certain principles or core values are apparent and seem to prevail under all conditions. When a person converses, he is always conversing either with one individual person, or a group of friends, or with a large crowd. The last one is more of a presentation or a delivery, but the first two are discussions and exchanges that happen virtually everyday.

Case 1: Guy with a lone guy. (Or girl with a lone girl.)
In this case, there are usually no taboos. There is little chance of offending the subject, so typically anything is alright. It could be a thoughtless conversation about their day or about something they just saw on the roadside, a light-hearted one about their favourite food or clothing or songs, or an intermediate talk regarding their view on certain news or general knowledge topics, to a serious and confidential discussion about a problem and how best to handle it. The last one is actually equally common with guys and girls alike, even though it does not appear so.

Case 2: Guy with a lone girl, as friend.
Conversing with a girl alone is a thousand times more stressful than talking to a guy alone. It is a fact that girls are more sensitive than guys; consequently, they are also more allergic than guys. As a general rule, vulgarities are banned. A guy should also be more vigilant and alert, and aware of the surroundings and his own bearing. He should hold with him a duty to protect, even as a friend, the sensitivity of the girl.

Case 3: Guy with girlfriend or potential girlfriend.
All rules of Case 2 apply, except even more stringent. There is an added feel of jealousy in it, and an added element of obligation. He must always be gentlemanly and cherish her, which is even more so in the presence of others. She should try to be understanding in turn. It is believed that a guy should not appear petty in front of a girl, but I personally do not agree. Since it is a known fact that the best date is a natural one, it follows that he should either be his natural self (petty or otherwise) or, he could decide to be petty or not depending on how the girl is.

It is also my view (once again based on the ideology of frankness and naturality in dating) that a guy (and a girl) should not avoid talking about something that needs to be discussed. Avoiding a complication to duck a quarrel may give rise to more and worse complications in the future.

Case 4: Group of friends, same gender.
Generally, group talk tends to be more light-hearted and often dwells on less serious issues. In fact, very often such non serious talk happens too often for own good.

A good balance to have the best of both worlds is that normally the conversations are kept light, but when there is a declaration of a serious discussion, the mood switches and remains serious until the discussion is over. What will be wrong, I believe, will be continuing to talk in the same casual, nonchalent way when a discussion has been called. In this system, the balance can be achieved.

Case 5: Group of friends, with some different gender.
One might expect that the initial conditions for these conversations to be the summation of all the others above. In fact, quite contrary is the fact that such events, such as class gatherings, to be completely free of taboos. The content of these conversations should be unwrittenly cloaked at all times, in particular, this is especially a rule in Truth and Dare. This is often also the most difficult type of conversation to conduct. It is similar to how some black and white are not written in black and white, but are potentially the most destructive.

Conclusion:
My own take on all of these, is that in any form of interaction, being honest and frank is important. It is the only universal strategy that truly works in all these circumstances. Being fake, or acting, can only last so long. Nobody, not the cleverest actor or actress, can truly and fully pretend without getting caught. I believe that we should always be sincere to others. That is the most important thing in PR and also the underlying idea that guides all other techniques of PR.

In the case of truth and dare, I believe that we should tell the truth. After all, it is meant to be a bonding session. At least, that is my strategy up till now.

Study of Human Character (PR001)

I noticed, having had a lot of PR to do these few months, that people have a tendency to react differently to different conditions. Men usually do not swear in front of ladies, ladies usually prefer casual topics rather than intellectual conversations, and people tend to be less serious when they are in large groups.

It seems as though society has set certain unwritten black and white about conversations, and some words, lingo and mannerisms are considered taboo under some corresponding circumstances, and must be banned or at least restricted. Simply put, it appears that people have certain taboos over what they say and it depends on the people they mix with.

The rationale of this behaviour is unconfirmed, but it is reasonable to assume that this is because people are different, and hence have different preferences, and yet people with similarities tend to have similar preferences and taboos, at least in theory. These posts under PR001 will illustrate my insights about this topic, or rather, record my observations relevant to this characteristic of people.

Kane

Shopping Spree

Yes, it is correct. I decided to go on a shopping spree today.

Having finished the test yesterday, I decided to give myself two days off. Firstly, it will allow me some time to relax at last. Second, it is the preparation for the final exam. My shifu and Mr Ng have both agreed that it is important to settle all personal problems prior to an exam.

These two days I am in green mode, and they are devoted to solving anything but work. These pre exam problems include BGR (which, dunno good or bad, I have none), family problems (thankfully, I have a proper family) and get any CD's and any other shopping that I need to do (and that is a lot).

I have five CD's on my list actually, but I decided to get only one. The fairy, Liu Yifei, whose album has the same name as her, Liu Yifei. The other four can wait and should wait, it will be too much to spend a full hundred dollars in a single day. They shall be split over several weeks.

From the moment I saw this remarkable album, I was electrified by it, and I have not been electrified by anything for a long time.

The photos are pretty of course, as Yifei deserves full marks for her unusual and ethereal beauty, she is truly one of the prettiest girls of my birth year. I especially like the photo of her on the beach, where the chemistry between her pose of an innocent, gentle smile and her angel white gown borders on the fantastic. The white, feathery gown envisions both beauty and purity, as well as eternal and infinite goddess-like nobility and child-like innocence.

The songs are of a high level, the fast songs are highly energetic, and the slow songs have a characteristic type of melody and feeling that has soothing, if not healing effect. The mark of a good singer is her ability to touch others. The mark of an excellent singer is her ability to sooth others with her song, and bring them into a state of concentration.

I cannot determine which one has more effect on me, the photos or the songs. Yifei certainly deserves to be classed among the truly great characters in the field of Entertainment. For that matter, she has already held a princess appointment while in her early days as an artist. She is a rising star and certainly has the potential to go really far, once her acting and singing skills are honed to maturity. Yifei is a fairy descended, a matured but still innocent girl, and a girl with great potential, in other words, she is a princess.

In my opinion, this is the finest album ever sung by a 20 year old. I certainly look forward to the next album by her, and will certainly rush for it when it releases.

Back on air, and tired

Princess Fann Wong. Yes, the correct word is princess, not idol. Please do not use the word idol or say that I am wrong. I feel it is my own right to decide what I want to view her as. Thank you very much.

School has started for less than a month (two weeks anyway), and the pressure is starting to pile up. Today's homework is one entire set of slides, and a big book to read and understand.

Woke up today with a sense of lethargy I so often experience nowadays but which I had never experienced in the past, I forced myself to start to gnaw at the large 444 page book before me. When I simply could not start, I forced some elementary exercises into my body and mind first.

Hardly five minutes into the mugging session, I found that I could not concentrate at home.

Decided to go to Parkway, where I could find a cafe or something, play some music and concentrate there. So I walked there, and landed in KFC, ate a little and started to read.

This was better than nothing, as I managed to finish the slides. Having the book to finish as well, I hurriedly finished my lunch and started. Not fully understanding the contents, I read a few pages, then found myself drifting. I forced my consciousness back, and tried to find where I ended before I drifted. To my annoynance, I found myself reading the things that I had already read again.

An hour or so into this, I decided I could not take it anymore. I took a break, and tried to force more information into my mind.

It was 3 when I decided that rest or no rest, I have to return home. But I was not going to slack home. I decided to walk home, and pick up a few items. First I visited my VCD shop to get a copy of my favourite VCD, this time in the form of Lu Xiao Feng.

(Source: Cover of Lu Xiao Feng VCD, scanned Kane.)

Cool huh?

On the way back, I decided to pick up the latest Nu You, with Angela on cover. I do not usually buy magazines, but I do when the cover is particularly nice. Angela is not only pretty, but this pose is very artistic and I rather thought I should collect it. The difficult part is that most of the 7-Eleven stores are already out of its stock. However, I still tried. I got it.

(Source: Nu You Magazine, scanned Kane.)

Pretty, isn't she? Comparable with my princess.

I can't believe I spent over thirty dollars today. Still, it was an eventful day, and got two rare items that are not easy to get.

Back to studying. I have to fulfill my promise.

Xinhui: 从台北到北京

Rather late a time to write a review on the album, so I shall write one about the MV of the album.

I wish to say that Xinhui was totally unrecognizable in this album. I meant unrecognizable in two ways. On the one hand, she has matured to an astonishing extent in her ability to step out in originality and great bravery, to take on such a demanding album, while maintaining her personal elegance. Sadly, in terms of her image, she has also become way too daring for her own good.

I recall that 7891 has used the word "flattering" to describe photos that show and indeed showcase a pretty girl well by means of dress sense and photographic skills, and do not hesitate to assert that the image of Xinhui is completely flattering. Her prettiest features are portrayed to maximal electric effect, in particular, her perfect facial features are emphasized.

What I feel is inappropriate however, is the extent to which the contents of the MV are. The intimate scene in 你给的 is not as bad as the attire she was wearing in 从台北到北京. I will not make too much mention here, but I think it is revealing too much rather in the wrong way. (There is nothing too offensive, but I still think the school uniform is a little way too "stylo" in the wrong way.)

Xinhui is a beauty by any proportion, but her beauty is one of elegance, as in the second and third songs, not too suitable for over-exaggerated images, much less negatively suggestive images. This is because Xinhui is a fine lady and an artist.

I therefore feel that Xinhui's image of wearing altered school uniform is not appropriate for her, if not inappropriate at all, given that it might give school children a wrong impression. Xinhui is a pretty girl, a fine lady and certainly an excellent singer. I feel that excessive amounts of decoration will only interfere with her imbued beauty. In contrast, glamourous, fine clothing with simple, light makeup is much better for showing off not only her features like her pretty eyes and fair skin, but also her entire disposition that is of a natural, elegant charm, as are such in the second and third songs, but perhaps most evidently apparent as she sang the eternal 屋顶 on the night of the Final 2005.

Kane

Songs of Faith

I have very good intention to give some songs to my elders to listen to. Hopefully, doing so will make them understand that the true meaning of generation gap is his inability to understand the goodness of our songs, and not any fixed value that is right or wrong.

My favourite songs are many; most of them revolve around the Princess level artists, or some really good singers. I will give off three songs first, then decide on the next step.

A Symphony of Joy and Sorrow

It sounds like a commonplace title for a blog entry. However, this is truly a good description for my experiences today.

First of all, I managed to draft a script for the Wuding MV.

I will be leaving blood bank real soon, end of this week in fact. Therefore, I was in a kind of ORD mood. Not of course, that I will spill out all those secrets, especially not that one. But I have become more outspoken and adopted a strong attitude that I do not really bother about people.

Told one of my colleagues that one of the regrets of blood bank is the fact that I have not learnt to communicate with certain groups of people, one of them being T, from the next door department. I told him that her colleague M, who is chasing her and having good returns, did not seem very happy about me possibly thinking I was fighting him. My colleague said that I thought too much. Whatever the case, I have decided that if he likes it, he accept it and if he doesn't like it, he suck thumb and accept it. He better not say that I am chasing her. That is an insult to me and to my boss.

I then went home, and was disappointed that I could not drive to Joo Chiat CC, S was the coordinator for a function there, which my mom was going. On the way home however, I was given some good news that joining NTU Red Cross Chapter will allow me to be a powerful influence in recruiting blood donors and allow me to continue to liaise with blood bank.

At home, a pleasant surprise awaited me. My blue card has arrived.

The best part of all however, has to be the fact that I have finally found out how to decode the copy of Wuding that I received last night.

Right for those who do not understand part of this post, I am kind of in a random splashing mood today.

Updates

First off, I passed my driving test and got my P plates from 5786. It was close, for the test was a tough one. I had to drive to the extreme left across almost full columns, then to the extreme right across that many columns to make a U turn.

Next thing, today I did my first and ever blood donation as a staff of the Blood Bank at last.

I am rather busy these days, preparing for my uni is hard work, whether academically, intellectually or physically, and to a certain extent, socially as well. As such, I will be writing less but still, one has to think, this is to keep the mind awake at all times.

Preparation for Driving Test

Tomorrow is my driving test. Here it is, the fight I have been spoiling for. It is the time to harvest the fruits of the past 6 months of struggle. I still remember seemingly yesterday, on the day I went for my BTT, which marked the start of my driving trainee career. Tomorrow, it better end.

I have trained in all sorts of conditions. I have met the nastiest of instructors, gotten the most broken tips from all of them, known all the lava pits by heart, resorted to Desperate Measures, and most importantly, gained the ability to instinctively know what is right and what is wrong in a split second.

As for the big day tomorrow, here is a list of common problems that deserve some note.

Starting the car:

Enter the car, inviting the tester to do so.

Check that the gear is free and the brake is on. Clutch in and on the engine and air con.

Check seat and mirrors (actually, pretend to).

Fasten seat belt, signal and ask for permission to move off.

Permission granted, remind tester to put on his seat belt. Engage first gear and move. Beware of rollback. It costs two points and a nasty first impression.

Check blind spot as turning left into circuit. Else costs 4 points and a very nasty impression.

Driving straight:

At the give way line, really give way. Beware which lane is the correct lane to turn into.

Postion car at the center of the lane. Engage second gear at low speed, prepare for immediate switch lane.

Check back mirror from time to time.

Switching lanes:

Only switch when needed.

Signal in advance. Otherwise, 2 points and a very nasty impression. Make all preparations, then tilt vehicle.

Do not double cut lanes. This costs at least 4 points.

Turn into the correct lane, then switch as necessary. Otherwise 4 points.

Keep left if nothing heard. Otherwise 6 points.

Tilt minimal when switching lanes, and tilt back the moment the car is half inside. Do not turn too much; instead, step oil to increase speed. Otherwise abrupt lane change, 4 points and a bad impression.

Give enough side clearance at all times. Otherwise it costs 8 points and very great danger.

Right of way:

Major roads have the right of way when going straight over minor roads turning in.

Major roads have the right of way when turning into minor road over minor road turning into a major road.

On any road, turning vehicles when turning right over an opposing lane must wait for that lane to clear of cars (and people) before turning inside. In particular, at traffic lights, turning on green light is provided the opposing lane is clear.

People have the right of way on pedestrian green light and on zebra crossing. Stop to give way to any human crossing or waiting to cross on these areas.

Look at mirror before stopping to give way.

Preventing an accident takes priority over all right of way rules.

Before making any turn, look straight again.

Turning stop line or left turn on red, stop, then inch forward and stop again, until the both sides have a clear view. Once done, go ahead bravely and do not hold back. This also applies for U turn. Slow down, and once confirm safety, go ahead bravely.

When borrowing space against traffic, drive slowly and pull over and stop to the left when facing oncoming vehicles.

Traffic lights:

Green light means proceed for straight moving, proceed if clear for turning.

Green arrow means proceed for turning, unless opposing lane has someone illegally beating the yellow or red light.

Once crossed the stop line when turning right, do not care about the colour of the lights; instead continue whenever possible.

Do not stop pedestrian crossing, otherwise it is 10 points, bad enough liao.

Other lava pits:

Slow down on making turns, otherwise it causes wide turn or sharp turn or both. 2 points for either, 4 for both, and very nasty impression in either case except none.

Incorrect lane will get 4 points and a very nasty impression.

At the slope, remember to signal when moving off, check BS, and signal left on the down slope, keep left if necessary. Do not clutch in on the down slope.

At directional change, remember to stay put at initial position until the vehicle inside signal left or the instructor asks to go.

Obstacle courses are meant for two cars, and stay clear from the one in front.

Crank course turn left keep right turn right keep left. Stop and reverse if in doubt.

Outside driving, slow down on any threat, stop if in doubt. Always stop if there is no right of way, when it is not clear ahead, or if in doubt.

Road ahead clear, drive fast confidently.

Do not tilt too much when changing lanes.

When reentering school, slow down and double check traffic ahead. Very dangerous! First gear always.

Look before changing lanes, once confirmed, step oil and proceed confidently.

Be careful at give way junctions. Slow down and check right, when clear, proceed bravely.

Enter fourth gear without stepping too much oil.

Cut half a lane when borrowing space, not a full lane. Check BS and signal as well.

Be careful, but confident when making U turn. Check clear, then turn wheel quickly but confidently.

When making a U turn, inch forward until the other side is seen.

Follow other vehicles when making turn or U turn as they leave the area clear to move.

Drive carefully but smoothly as well. The dragon is on board.

Return of the SA

Yes, I am back! I believe however, that should the elite have gotten where he got the hard way, it will be a lot of difference, and he will be much more approachable as he has learnt it.

Watching Peifen, and getting amused at how she is teaching us to use MSN system.

Finally, I believe that she and I can still and will still be friends and good ones.

The SA has returned for you, Princess.

Time Economy

I sometimes wonder, why is it that I have so little time? This is especially true considering how I seem to have less time during the weekends than during the weekdays.

On the average weekday, I start the day at about 6.30 pm, reaching home at around 7.30 to 8. From 8 to 9 is my bodily maintenance. Doing things fast, I can squeeze around 15 to 30 min out of it. In this time, usually I switch on the radio to listen to the last part of the evening session, while clearing my email. I think the key is that at this point, I should not spend time to play games, or do anything that is way too time consuming.

9 to 10 is a compulsory watch of Miracles. After this is over, this time could be spent to write and think more.

From 10 onwards, it is free and easy in name, finishing last minute work in fact. I need some time to relax and rest, and think about random thinks and write these random thoughts down, first rehearsing it into a composition in my mind and later writing it out over here to share with her.

And when there are problems at hand, like right now, I make some phone calls. Without problems usually the phone calls go to 5786 to plan things and agree on CU's. With problems the calls might go to 5786 as well if the problems have got to do with academic or tactics. Otherwise, especially if they are to do with relations, I ask for help from 0029 or 5803.

By the time all of these are done, it is way past my bedtime and technically I should long be in bed. It is little wonder then, that there is so much to do and so little time, as 4062 so rightly put. I guess what I can do is that I can squeeze time from the 8 to 9 and 10+ periods.

This way, I have more time to do other things and for standby purposes as well.

Fallen out of love without going in in the first place

What a mouthful. I wish it does not happen to me. This is probably what my friend Kane (code name) is thinking now.

Today I witnessed a tragedy. I was very shaken by it, and did not perform very well at work today. Kane narrated to me this story.

I cannot remember when I started to like her. I guess it was since the day I entered the trade. She was not only pretty, but the "electricity" fired from her eyes is completely in phase with me. She reminds me firmly of the good Peifen, and she often appears in nice dresses that emphasize on both the natural and glamourous aspects of beauty. Yet she does not seem at all of a spicy type.

Today however, I went inside her office, and found that one of her colleagues had a photo with her, apparently a V day photo. I got a shock and nearly fell down on the spot. I fought back a strong desire to whack the guy in front of me.

I wish I were faster.

To make matters worse, I had to run into the bugger in the toilet. I acted normal, opening the door for him. In truth, I would dearly love to slam the door in his face.

I wrote to my senior, who was an acknowledged expert at these affairs. He mentioned about how I should only sabotage them if they are unstable. How am I to know how stable or not they are? They seem stable, however.

I decided to hold on and watch. I must be very careful not to expose my identity and also be very careful in my judgment. I have misjudged a good man on similar grounds before, and I must be careful not to make the same mistake. From what I know, this guy is both likeable and workable and I will do justice to hold on and watch.

I think I will ask my friend who is his immediate colleague, first to confirm whether they are indeed together, then ask whether he is true.

Whatever is the truth, I will order him to take good care of her. This is the most I could do.

Back to the real Kane, the author of this blog.

Indeed there are three pains of romance. One, when one likes a girl but the girl has a boyfriend. Two, when a guy likes a girl but the girl does not reciprocate. Three, when one loves and his love is true, but there is simply no opportunity to let it blossom into truth.

I believe in this, as a Special Agent. There is no point pretending to be a certain character when one is not. Otherwise, such a lie will eventually be exposed. Or, perhaps the secret will have to be carried to the grave. In either case, one would have married in vain. There will be quarrels every day and every night, and nothing else; there is no harmonious chemistry, only harmful chemistry. One can lament, but never truly alter. There is only so much that one can do. It is true that there are better men around, to be exact, at least one better man around. However, if in the eyes of the girl there is none, then there is nothing much that can be done.

I will not let emotions affect my professional judgment as a Special Agent.

Ops CNY Closing Statement

This year, no doubt, I have celebrated the most pleasing, most chaotic and most busy CNY in my life. In the years to come, I am sure the CNY's will be even more tiring but rewarding. Here is a simple closing statement to describe my thoughts on why it is special.

Right from Day 0, an exciting mission has started as 5786 and I went to Chinatown in the middle of the night. This has been done the previous year but not with photos, nor with such ferocity as to catch the last train home. There was also good planning in the process, resulting in the success of this difficult first mission. The position was incredibly complicated, chances of a mess up are everywhere, and it is thanks to good planning and execution that the mission was a success. There was also a tertiary objective, that of uncovering the Lambda Complex, followed by the race to catch the last train.

Day 1 was just as eventful, the night ending with a last minute visit and a late night discussion of the recently gathered data in typical Arctic style, and putting a full stop to another great mission. The timing was also much better than usual.

There was a transition in Day 2, and some hidden politics that I so perfectly piloted so that they were invisible. The night was with 5803, which was never seen outside.

There was a private event with Fann Wong, a great conception that never happened in the past. This was followed by a DOUBLE event later that day at IMM, putting a perfect full stop to Ops FA as well. This happened on Day 3.

There was a visit to my house in Day 7, one that is carefully planned to ensure its flow, and the funny little scene preceeding it concerning how E1 (pot) went a big round to get oranges is like a nice animated sequence before a show.

There was in depth discussion of several issues in general.

There was a visit to Shifu's house, one that was carefully planned, then when messed up, corrected so brilliantly by 5786 and executed without a flaw.

There was generally good handling of time and money. Little time was lost, and no money was lost at all.

Finally, it was a great learning experience. We have also sharpened our mission skills. The conduct and planning of missions by our team has reached a higher level, and a new phase begins.

In my opinion, it is the finest CNY that I have ever had.

Demise of Miss Chan Bee Bee, HOD Maths, DHS

When 5786 and I visited our teacher last night, she told us that Miss Chan Bee Bee, the HOD Maths during our time at DHS, had passed away peacefully. A Dunmanian herself, she was under the command of Mdm Tan, our teacher, as well.

The news came like a bolt from the blue. Neither Mdm Tan nor myself knew anything. The late Miss Chan Bee Bee had decided to fight the one year battle with cancer on her own to the end. Although I was never formally taught by her, she helped me out of a few tight spots, and I had been under her command for SSS (Self Study Scheme) when my work was at the most abyssmal state. A public obituary dedicated to her, to preserve her achievements is appropriate.

I have several flashes of the late Miss Chan. I cannot remember her having any faults as a teacher, nor as a person. She showed many qualities typical of a Dunmanian.

Miss Chan was a good teacher, both skilled and responsible. Few could ever surpass her ability to communicate the techniques of mathematics to her students. She taught students irregardless of their backgrounds. She and Mdm Tan were the unanimous Elite Duo of the DHS Maths Department. Her day to day patience was matched with her ability to make mathematicians out of the amateurs, and masters out of the talented. Her leadership skills were also excellent and she gained the respect of teachers and students alike.

Miss Chan was always willing and ready to help any Dunmanian who was bold enough to knock on her door. I have myself been helped, over both work and personal matters. Being very knowledgeable and an excellent counseller, she helped whenever she could. Where she could not, she would refer the student to another person who could help. Personally, she was also very kind, and would never harm her students including not scolding or punishing. Instead, she used sincerity to convince her students to work hard and do good. Finally, she was a person who was willing to cover up for her students. All these are only her best qualities, and they are qualities that so many teachers, and even some HOD's, lack.

About covering up and helping, a move made by Miss Chan that probably helped almost all of the students in my batch (1999 to 2002) was her decision to moderate the mathematics papers, which was never done before. Her decision made many students manage to enter JC's of their first choice that they would otherwise have missed. She expressed her astonishment and disgust at our record number of 30 pointers, but instead of simply scolding us, she moderated our scores and created many 20 pointers out of thin air. She followed up with giving us a long lecture about our poor results, and suggested to us ways to overcome them.

But undoubtedly the greatest favour she did our people was how she painstakenly set up SSS. I am no supporter of the SSS; rather, I thought that there was no point imprisoning people who do not wish to study. Besides, I also thought that the system was very rigid, and I had many criticisms about it initially. But Miss Chan's efforts in setting up the SSS gained my respect. They included wrestling the best study room in the hostel for us, appointing a responsible teacher to assist us (and taking up this responsibility herself, when there are no teachers available), ordering food from the hostel catering, and eventually, nearing the exams, even finding rooms in the hostel for us to stay in school. When I saw these, I decided to keep my comments to myself.

Yet, Miss Chan, being an exemplary Dunmanian in every aspect, of honesty, trustworthiness, courage and loyalty (and the balance of them), passed away without a single Dunmanian by her side. There was no doubt that she did not want any of us to worry. She was truly a Dunmanian to the end.

From where she is, I believe Miss Chan will not want us to mourn over her too much, knowing her as I have done. She lived a life helping others and bringing others to wisdom and nobility, whether as her career, or in her personal life. We must do well in future. That will do her proud, and that will be the best way to let her know that she is, and will always be, remembered.

Rest in peace, Miss Chan. I salute you. It was through you that I understood how great a responsibility it is to be a Dunmanian.

The Battle of Flu Continues

The invasion continues. I am still under heavy fire by the flu virus that had invaded me. Yesterday I tried (erronously) to be strong and went to work. It got even worse, I nearly went down with a fever yesterday, and took several types of drugs, both Chinese and English alike, to press down the symptoms and the real thing. I am lucky to be strong enough to blog now. As u might have guessed, I decided to play it safe and stay at home today.

I would say that while life at blood bank (involving making money and saving lives at the same time) is great, honorable and fulfilling, a rare day of medical leave is rewarding as well. I'm not going to waste my time though. I get to write my thoughts, stay near the radio the whole day, and most importantly get the feeling that I am doing something wrong, (in the sense that on healthy days, I should either be at work or going out, not staying at home) which is very important a form of inspiration for young people like myself.

I'm not sure whether inspiration will strike today. If it will, I will post whatever I am inspired to write later on. For now, I need to return my sleep debt further.

Sick and Worn Out

The title says it all. I have come down with a common cold. Sore throat, alternating runny and blocked nose, heat coming up from all directions and feeling that my throat is getting pried open are just some of the symptoms.

According to Peifen - a great princess of Singapore - a makeup artist once gave her opinion about a cold's symptoms to be "fun" and "cute". I am having a hard time trying to adopt this view. (This artist is probably the one we have to thank for the excellent makeup for Peifen in So Simple, although that is to be confirmed. Source, www.crazycoolcute.blogspot.com, Peifen personal blog, post Star Awards 06 entry.)

I woke up with a terrible cold. I was contemplating to go on MC but my mother said that going on MC would mean spending money on the doctor medical fees AND losing $50+ for the day's pay. This total of nearly $100 is not good at all. I therefore dragged myself to work.

Perhaps it is due to the especially great workload today, I decided that I really could not take it when lunchtime arrived. I went home, benefitting at the fact that I have minimised my losses to about $35 or so. Not bad, considering that I have prevented the loss of about half the amount.

More irritating is that I was not clearly ill, but fluctuating between well and unwell. I felt a lot better on the way home. But my decision to end work early proved to be right when I reached home, I would not have been able to last much longer.

I decided to use the day to pay back some of the things that I have owed. The first is the sleep debt. In the past two months, I have never had a really good sleep. Weekdays are too busy and weekends are too valuable.

Another thing that I took the chance to fulfil is the fact that I haven't been listening to gegemeimei for a long time. So I went to rest while turning on the radio. This is the one bad thing about working; one loses too much, about these important things. Otherwise, I prefer work any day, any time. Although I still missed a little of the programme, at least I managed to catch the gist of it.

Till I get well then.

Day 7 and Onwards

On Day 7 there are good news and bad news. The bad news is that the intended trip to our Shifu's(teacher) house has fallen through. 5786 was simply unavailable the entire day. The good news however, is that the day is my brother's birthday in addition to everyone else's. Another good news is that the dinner ended early and the night was free.

I got 5786 on the phone, and he wanted some loose change. I got a good $70 of loose change converted to $2 and $5 in many forms. Then I made my way to his shop and had a short chat with E1 (pot) as well. Passing the loose change over, I proceeded to get him back to clear my house.

At my house my parents turned the initially free and easy bai nian session into an interview session. I had a few interferences and eventually managed to convince them that they could go to sleep first if they are tired. They did indeed.

The day continued with a good game of RA2 and watched a good mahjong movie. The day ended when I decided to find the answer to some questions and nearly fell asleep in the process.

Day 3, Ops CNY and Ops FA

Today is a day that I must write about. The idea being so great, not only because Princess Fann is involved, but under the circumstances that I saw her twice today, once of which is in a way never seen before.

Today was not only an FFC event, but it was a totally internal and personal FFC event. FFC has decided that the time has become ripe for a gathering with Fann at a personal level, and they got through. So it was to be at Tea Chapter tea house at Tanjong Pagar area, 11, today.

As early as yesterday night, I have started to prepare. The plan was to write a letter addressed to Fann, as a gesture of appreciation to her help for such a long time. As I am stepping to a low level soon, this is some sort of my final mission, so I gave it all out and thought not too much about it. 5786, 5803 and 0029 were all involved in it, and I drafted a letter with 5803's help. I will attach the letter to the end of the mission report.

Today however, there was a little screw up early in the morning, when I was not sure exactly which way to go. I got support from 0029, who accessed my email and retrieved the address for me. The taxi fare was a mere $5, thanks to the good driver.

First thing, we had to wait for about half an hour for the whole lot to arrive. After that, Fann arrived and although we expected a speech, it never came. Instead, Fann simply looked at us.

文芳：你们有什么要问我的吗？

没有人回答。

文芳：各位媒体，有什么要问吗？

We laughed at this. She went on to explain that she is only attached out to China, she still stays at Singapore most of the time.

From a fan POV, this is good news. But from a subordinate POV, I think it is not too good news.

We went on to fight over a number game, where there was a lot of help.

Then followed a simple 鱼生 ceremony. Many photos were taken in the event, sadly, I could only take so many. But the important thing is that the groups of the number game all took group photos with Fann and after the ceremony we took a large photo. There was a little sidestep here as one Fannatic joked that it is ok to lean back, there was no masking tape behind.

At this point I managed to get a private word with Fann, and I wished her Happy CNY during the group photo taking. A second private word was chanced as I marched up to her and handed her the oranges and the letter. Thereafter, the FFC forces made a short video and she left. Before she left however, she told us.

等一下见

Fair enough, I was half deciding whether to cross over or not. Since she said it, I should.

I then crossed over to IMM and participated in the event, shouting out some of the answers to the game with the other FFC forces and making a 12 on 2 defeat for Fann on Jack Neo, who was also involved in the promotion event.

At the signing ceremony, I took the signed poster and added a request for both guests to write 新年快乐 on my poster. I mentioned to Jack and Fann that I have been their supporter for years, since I was young. Jack since as long as I could remember. Fann since Xiaolongnu. Actually, it was since Chronicles, although I did not know it then. When I told Fann to sign my poster she told me that she had read my letter liao. Although I dare not hope that she will do as I said, I am nevertheless relieved that she had read my letter and I had made my 心意 known to her at last.

This is also a convenient concluding chapter to Ops Fannatic Alliance, a war that had dragged for a full year. I am glad of the symbolism of this; it all started in IMM, and it is in IMM that I shall complete my last mission. It is also a 吉兆 that I met Fann and Jack in the CNY holiday, both of whom are people that I greatly respect.

I am glad that I have made my thoughts known to Fann at last. I have at last completed the mission of Ops FA, and can go to NTU in peace.

But although I have stepped out, I have not stepped down. I have told FFC that anything they can still get me, and please keep me in the loop for anything that they have for us.

Meanwhile, the response that Fann gave me as I left the stage was as inspiring as it is demanding. It was simply, 加油！

I will not let u down, Princess.

Fannatic (LOW) Kane Tan

Day 1, Ops CNY, Backdated

I have to admit that this entry is terribly overdue. Yesterday was extremely busy and I have really precious little time.

The full form of Ops CNY started when I went with 5786 to the countdown. I have tried getting others along, such as 2376 but to no avail. The countdown turned out to be rather much a screw up. We went just in time for the fireworks, but the place was not right at all. I took no photos of the fireworks, but I did indeed get some photos and 5786 some. The background, although without fireworks, nevertheless had smoke to decorate as a background.

A while after 2359, we explored the familiar McDonalds and the other places in that building, including one Kbox and Kster. I observed the intricate and intriguing difference between the two that I believe others do not understand. One allowed all ages, while the other only allowed guys 21 and above, and girls 18 and above. We explored the area, the main reason being that the place was too crowded to leave easily.

The journey home however, was much more eventful. First of all, it was extremely difficult to negotiate the crowd. Eventually, we went through some of the secret passages and emergency exits, thankfully aided by one of the people around the area who is working. We bought some fireworks and went through another secret passage to get out of the Chinatown area and reach Tanjong Pagar. 5786 and I unanimously decided to walk half the distance home. We had intended to walk the full distance home; he had every intention to do so, but I was really unable to in vew of the massive travelling that will have to be done the next day, or rather later on in the day.

We got to the Lambda sector, and I took the chance to suggest that we take a look at the area for some preparation. I named some of the streets and we took a walk around the area, incidentally finding out where the TWF is. We also found a draw point nearby.

Finally, we transferred to an MRT, nicely in time to get the last train.

The next day first destination was at the temple. Second, at another McDonalds. Then went to Sentosa to view flowers, although that was more of a walking experience. For dinner, we crossed over to next door for it. Then came the climax.

I was going to aim for either a visit to 5786 and 5803. When both of them said they have to wait until further notice, I thought there was no possibility to clear one visit tonight. However, at around 2200, 5786 sms me saying he reached home. I called and immediately arranged to cross over.

Taking the opportunity of the time, I immediately started on one of the difficult questions given to me by 2376. I started to work on the questions and we solved almost everything. We went on to have a session of analysis by test playing the Arctic team. We debriefed the events and did some in depth thinking. Then, I went home.

Day 0, Ops CNY 2007

This is kind of a filler post. I am adding it now instead of late at night as the need was simply too great. Today, the climax of the Ops CNY 2007 mission will be fully in form. However, I will be away until way after 2359 tonight, and as such the opening ceremony needs to be done here first.

I will be first going to the fireworks display to wish all party members happy CNY, then follow up by taking some snaps and returning home. This completes the first phase. It is estimated to end at around 0100, return home at around 0400. Transport home is possibly walking.

Tomorrow, Day 1, I will visit as many party members as possible. That done, the whole of Day 2 and Day 3 will likely to be occupied.

The attire tonight is full Number 4 attire light, with Number 4 T shirt and half long pants, and sports shoes. I have prepared my attire, with Ohana T shirt and pants, with a good pair of sports shoes to finish.

I have to prepare, will be back after this. At Day 1. Let this be the opening ceremony for the mission.

Day -1, Ops CNY 2007

The day just before CNY eve proved to be relatively harmless. But it was a happy day. Today marked a consolidation between me and the neighbouring department. I particularly liked to work with E and S, E as she is cheerful, S as she is very pretty. L is kind of efficient, but easily efficient in all aspects. I have yet to come up with code numbers for them, in other words, yeah, not yet. I have also crossed paths with C already, who is kind of their leader. This happened in the past few days.

Of these, my most proud achievement is that I have finally gotten the so called attention of S, who now greets me early and often. This is probably the result of my helping her in the centre booking yesterday. Being very pretty, S naturally caught the attention of many army guys, who get every chance to talk to her. I think S herself does not know the type of attention that she is receiving, nor the nature of it. In any case, I swiftly intercepted each attempt, whether in distribution or enquiry. In doing so, I helped her greatly, saving her the trouble of going through my guys.

Today, at last she would say hi when seeing me. While the story does not end here, it surely makes a great start. I followed up by playing the gate IC whenever possible, and greeting her early nad often. In the evening, I went in to wish her people happy CNY. I am not sure whether she and E noticed that I paid particular attention to them.

I think I will continue by trying to ask them to help in future. This is NOT, I repeat, NOT to be interpreted as an attempt on chasing, as I am sure many will consider it.

In the evening, another "chasing" event has a breakthrough. 5786 said that it was all clear at the Place, and I went there to spend some time sitting down. Both 5786 and E1 (pot) were there. I could not ask for more, and started to see what I could know about E1 (pot) and according to 5786, there might be a chance that she is suitable for the E1 post.

After a round of TC4 and a couple of discussion of maths, the day ends.

Just Follow Law

I have actually a couple of blog entries on the waiting list, for final editing before posting. But for this one, I simply must get the entry up and running on the spot. This is after all, a special case incident. One might go as far to say that it is a pleasant surprise.

I first offer a toast to Fann, and another one to Jack Neo. A third one to Gurmit Singh. I think they deserve it, among many others.

Today I went to Blood Bank for work as usual. The day's events already suggested a surprising twist, though I did not sense it. At around lunch time today, I found myself booking appointment for a certain Mr Tay. On close observation, Mr Tay proved to be a celebrity. Neither my identity as a HSA officer, nor my identity as an FFC officer, allowed me to expose his identity to the public, as he certainly would not have liked it, otherwise he would have done so, no reason for him to have stage fright. (There were people all around there.) Alright, I might have over explained this.

Instead, I wrote a small piece of note. 久仰大名，幸会！He nodded as though in thanks and wished me happy new year. I returned the greeting with the pride of a fraternity fighter, and wished him good work and fight on. Earlier today, I also settled a problem case with a mass booking.

All these achievements however, paled in significance when compared to the unusual twist and the coup de grace when the day approached five half.

I was in my daily long break, this one having been pushed till five. As I was going to return to office, I received a surprising call with a "ALL" ringtone of Eyes on Me. I saw 0029 name and number flashing at me.

Knowing that the need was urgent, I took the call immediately, poised for action, so to speak. He asked me whether I was free at 7 and after. Response was a bit rush, but first what is the issue. He told me that he got FREE TICKETS to JUST FOLLOW LAW. Of all movies! This is the issue that bothered me for a long time, how to get the tickets in the light of the CNY period. It is not the problem with cost; that is standard, but it is the problem of actually getting the tickets. This movie is compulsory, not only because I am an FFC officer, but because this is Jack Neo at work, with his satires and unwritten irony within.

I watched the movie, naturally. 0029 and party met me at Vivo, and we went to watch the prized movie. It was Fann as nobody has seen before. I do not know which impressed me more. Was it her acting skills, so fine tuned that she is able to project herself into a man, and perform all kinds of men's vices, including vulgarities, dirty jokes and objected habits and mannerisms? It was far worse than I thought, and indeed it was Fann as never seen before. Or perhaps, it was her willingness and daringness to play such a role, one that (from Taiwanese drama point of view) would completely spoil, no, destroy her image? I believe it is a combination of both, and both of them showed her professional spirit and flexibility, which others have always doubted, which I believe nobody can now still doubt.

There was a characteristic satiric nature of the present society, but yet inclusive of the perfect balance and counter argument, arguing for all sides of society, making no room for criticism and claims of prejudice and discrimination. This is perfectly illustrated in the chinese idiom 针砭时弊.

There was a degree of dry, deadpan - even somewhat dirty - humour that strangely does not offend. The finesses of the so called dirty humour is so exact and precise that one will be too busy laughing at it to actually get offended by it, which they would not in any case.

There was a creative plot, coupled with a rarely seen soul switching scene that at first sight seems eerie, but when combined with the above mentioned satiric nature and mildly dry humour makes it a complete masterpiece. One must remember who is male and who is female, to get the maximal effect.

I do not know about how the characters got their names, but the name Tanya conveniently coincides with the Red Alert and Red Alert 2 elite, who is equally capable, equally flexible, equally pretty and equally hard to get along with. General Carville has commented that one gets along better with the enemy than with Tanya. Whether it is a coincidence or not, it was a great choice. Meanwhile, Zui is related to water, and this is also in line with Gurmit Singh's character that brought him to fame, Phua Chu Kang.

Finally, there were some touching moments, when Tanya with Zui inside is scolding Zui with Tanya inside, where he is in fact scolding himself in guilt. There is a similar guilt display on the other hand with Tanya as well.

Needless to say, each of these factors have contributed in some way or other to make this movie a truly excellent one. Perhaps more important than any of these, on hindsight, is the combination and synergy of these factors, and even more so the transition of one of these parts to another, which is played with flawless accuracy. This also happens to coincide with the moral of this story, which is that in an organization, everyone is part of a greater whole and only together can we progress and improve ourselves and society alike, and that each individual is not singly decisive, but whose role is equally and crucially important. I believe it is this smooth and absolutely flawless transition of satire to humour and to other parts of the story that is the decisive factor that drove the audience to a climax time and again. Hardly one minute into the movie, the audience laughed simultaneously and spontaneously. More than once, the audience broke into unplanned, concurrent savage applause. It is the type of applause not unlike the TJC auditorium broke into during the memorable incident when a TJCian raised the question of why we were given PW during a talk, and similar to what Chess Grandmaster Lasker must have experienced the day he beat Capablanca sending an inactive knight to lead a three prong attack against the king, giving him three ways to lose. It was, according to him, the type of wholly spontaneous applause which thunders forth in the theatre, of which the individual is almost unconscious.

V Day Special

The word "Valentines' Day" is really difficult to spell and I often spell it wrong. I think I just did again, or not. I therefore short form it as V day or v day. International friendship day too. Today my V day however, was far from peaceful.

Early in the morning eight o clock, I was already at blood bank. The work today was tiring, as there was more business than usual. The onside was that I helped a donor solve a particular problem, and she voluntarily gave me her hp number and msn address! That is one new friend made.

After work I went to Vivo City to conduct a noble mission. For this mission, MA 5803, MC 2376 and others were pulled into it. It was to give a sister a copy of I weekly, which was out of print liao. I got the magazine anyway, and passed it over. This is also probably my last mission as an active FFC person. Hereafter I believe I will stand down in the near future.

Leaving Vivo, I realized that I was due for a driving lesson today. I had to rush back home and rush straight to the school again. The lesson lasted until way across 10. I reached home at almost 11. From 8 to 11. That was my V day this year.

Recollections: Six Big, Strong Guys

At first sight this title seems totally nonsensical. What is there to write about six big strong men? I am straight, do not worry, I am merely referring to an anecdote centered around the phrase.

This story took place while I was very young, only 13 at that time. I was in the middle of the St John June Camp. Memories, often dark ones, about St John still haunt me sometimes, but they instill more hatred than anger, and more anger than fear.

Serene, Year 1 at that time, meaning from the 82 batch, was the person who said the phrase. Although she can be strict in training, she is extremely enthusiastic in events, and is known to not resort to high end punishments unnecessarily. (She later became Chief Advisor, JNCO for us, but that is another story.) This incident however, I felt she made a mistake, as did all the seniors there.

Gathered outside the Hall, Serene needed some people to shift stores. She announced to the Whole Corps (this word is pronounced as "core" or "kor") that she needed "Six big, strong guys" to help her carry some stores.

ZY Cheng (name partially censored to protect privacy) volunteered immediately to assist Serene in the stores. Many of the other ambulances (guys, not cars) laughed at him, led by DJ and CC. The comments were such like "If ZY is BIG and STRONG then we all are Superman already." Soon, the seniors joined in laughing.

I think that this is extremely unbecoming of the seniors, to join in laughing. Not only does it cause me to (on hindsight, now) doubt their integrity, but it also shows the characteristic nature of the St John seniors focusing on the wrong things. I have never showed any mercy when it comes to criticizing my seniors; I condemn them beyond mere words, and this time I feel that I have every right and reason to wreck them.

Meanwhile, Serene's response was a placid, "Erm...okay..." and that was just as bad. She as an officer, is supposed to assist the JNCO's and SNCO's in command and control of their men. Yet, while on duty she condoned her juniors to laugh at other juniors.

What she should have said was this, "Ladies and gentlemen. May I ask, why do all of you laugh at ZY? Doubtlessly, you all believe yourselves to be greater than him, therefore your reaction. Indeed, physically speaking, ZY is not yet big and strong. In the Corps, he is but a Standard 1. He is the smallest and weakest in physical ability and in rank alike. But ask yourselves. Why do none of you, whom you consider yourselves BIGGER, and STRONGER, than him, not volunteer your services, when your Corps mates like myself need help? Why is it that ZY proves more helpful than you all, who are his seniors whether in physical ability, in rank, or in age? Why do you all claim yourselves to be BIGGER and STRONGER, but yet not volunteer yourselves? ZY is not strong, but he has volunteered to help, and for that, even though he is only a recruit in rank, and is small and weak, I respect him. But can I say the same for all of you?"

Good leaders teach, great leaders inspire. Instead of compelling orders and punishments on others, or forcing humiliation on them, it is often much more effective to make your men ashamed of themselves.

Pretty girls and how we should respect them

This topic is probably too typical and stereotypical in today's world. It is probably a standard issue and a common issue in most young people's blogs. I will try to follow this trend, not forgetting adding a touch of myself inside.

As a customer service officer in the Outram area, I run into many pretty girls nearly everyday. My work even involves talking to them sometimes to solve their problems for them; a vocation that many men will die for. However, as mentioned earlier, my character considers guy to girl socializing as a form of flirting, and the feeling of use of such a word makes me feel guilt. However, this does not mean that I do not enjoy my work as a donor care officer at the blood bank, only that I make it a point to not use my work as an excuse to flirt with girls.

Today I just ran into a pretty girl. I was always inspired to see young donors, especially those who drag their friends along. Surely, some of these will become regular donors and contribute to the gift of life.

The girl was wearing a dress with two layers. An inner black layer and a pink layer outside it. She was simply exquisite in that simple attire, and her shape makes her look like Rinoa Heartilly in pink. At the counter, I explained that it is good to see young donors step forward like herself, since I was born in the year of 86 as well. She told me that she too, was from the same year.

It is rare enough to meet someone of the exact same batch as yourself in society, much more so here where young people are not exactly common. (I know it contradicts with my first statement, but although I run into them everyday they are still not many, and very few are from the exact same year.) She therefore talked to me a little more, asking about my school. She was from NYP, and will graduate as a nurse trainee very soon, where she will go through an attachment process.

It turned out that she was not feeling well, and had to be rejected. She asked me many questions instead, about work and about myself. I commented that it was surprising how much our lives were different in the past four years, and I shared with her some experiences and knowledge gained in a JC, where she never went to. I also encouraged her to get a degree and get it as far as possible.

A pretty girl does indeed inspire, and here is my inspiration from this pretty girl.

"It is strange how some people are willing to donate blood and are certainly having the right attitude toward donation and are not healthy enough to donate, yet there are 90% of the Singapore citizens who are largely healthy, but do not step forward to replenish the world's supply of this universal and all powerful potion."

My Protection

Here is my first true post.

I often said that I know inner strength like that of Xiaolongnu in Return of the Condor Heroes. This means that I am able to control my emotions, and consequently my lust, completely. It is not a very common gift, especially not among young men who seem to think that lust is part of male ego.

My opinion however, is that this is far from a privilege, but rather a very great weakness. Therefore, I have since young decided to stop it from taking over my mind. The technique is simpler than expected. All that one has to do is to imagine that one is protected, and in doing so one will indeed gain a form of spiritual self protection, similar to placebo effect, and with it an invincible protection. To simplify things, I normally simply say that Xiaolongnu protects me.

The Xiaolongnu that I imagine to be my protector is the one by Fann Wong, but it must be clear that I am referring to the character, not the actress. However, it is equally important to note that Fann is also equally able and effective in protecting me. The difficult part is to realize that there is a difference, and the two are not the same.

"The Force protects the good, and the Force protects the willing. Xiaolongnu protects me, but provided that I am good, true, faithful and willing. She is my Electronic Video Agent, my Force."

First Post

It is traditional of any Forum, Message Board or otherwise Stress Relieve Place to have a First Post. So here it is. I am Wen Yuan, while online I prefer to assume the identity of Lord Starla or Kane, since my real name is not easy to pronounce. I hope this is the practice for blog as well :P.

A bit about myself, I use the name Starla more for tournaments and things that demand a certain degree of glam, while Kane is more general purpose.

I am 20 at the time of writing this, and I will be an undergraduate in a few months' time. I was in Ngee Ann Primary School, Dunman High School, TJC and this means I'm from Singapore!! haha. Alright enough of the crap. I enjoy most strategy games, board games and card games. I like Chinese songs and drama, particularly my own country's productions. I am easy to get along with as long as u can tahan the first few days as I have a long "adapting" window period.

My view on blogs and on blogging in general (including visitor posts) are simple and I believe, reasonable. I am open minded and hope that everyone can comment and criticize my blogging entries and points as they deem fit, I am receptive to good advice, whether gentle or hard, as long as it is good, however, only when it is good.

That is done, I have to go and play around with the system now.
